Birth and Death Rate in Mongolia 2020

According to the preliminary result, the birth rate and death rate per 1000 persons were 23.2 and 4.8 respectively, and natural increase rate per 1000 population was 18.4. Compared with the previous year, birth rate per 1000 persons was decreased by 1.1 point and death rate per 1000 persons by 0.4 points.

In 2020, there were 77946 new born children (births) at the national level, of which 76261 children (births) (97.8%) were born in Mongolia and 1685 children (births) (2.2%) were born in abroad. Birth rate per 1000 persons in Ulaanbaatar city and Bayan-Ulgii, Khovd, Govisumber, Dornod, Govi-Altai, Uvs, Umnugovi and Orkhon aimags were 0.1-2.6 points higher than the national average and birth rate per 1000 persons in other aimags were 0.5-11.9 points lower than the national average.

There were 15990 deaths at the national level, of which 15924 deaths (99.6%) were born in Mongolia and 66 deaths (0.4%) were in abroad. Death rate per 1000 persons in Ulaanbaatar, Khuvsgul, Sukhbaatar, Arkhangai, Uvs and Dundgovi aimags were 0.1-0.9 points higher than the national average and crude death rate per 1000 persons in Govi-Altai, Zavkhan and Dornod aimags were equal to the national average. Whereas death rate per 1000 persons in other aimags were 0.1-0.9 points lower than the national average.

The natural increase rates per 1000 persons in Ulaanbaatar, Bayan-Ulgii, Khovd, Govisumber, Umnugovi, Dornod, Govi-Altai, Uvs and Orkhon aimags were 0.4-3.2 points higher than the national average. Whereas natural increase rates per 1000 persons in other aimags were 0.1-11.2 points lower than the national average.
