According to the first schedule of the Covax vaccine distribution, 237 million doses of vaccines will be distributed to 142 participating countries by the between February-May 2021. In the first 12 days of distribution, about 15.7 million doses of vaccine were delivered to 28 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Pacific and Latin America, and 14.4 million doses will be delivered by next week from March 8-14, 2021 to 31 countries.
Alex Haikens, UNICEF Resident Representative, said: “Today, Mongolia received the first batch of 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine under the Covax program. The next 98,400 doses will be added in the coming months. We would like to thank the donors of the program. In the future, we will supply vaccines to immunize up to 20% of the population of Mongolia.”
In the first quarter of this year, Mongolia will receive 112,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and 25,740 doses of Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine under the Covax program.
